On 1st July 1984, approved by Shanghai Municipal Government and Ministry of Foreign Trade And Economic Cooperation, PRC, Shanghai International Trade Information and Exhibition Company was founded as a subsidiary of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Shanghai Sub-Council.
In 1996, SIEC became a full member of Union des Foires International (UFI). Die & Mould China came to be the approved events of UFI as the first one in Shanghai.
In April 1999, approved by Shanghai Foreign Economic Relation & Trade Commission, company name changed from Shanghai International Trade Information and Exhibition Company to Shanghai International Exhibition Company.
In July 2001, approved by Shanghai Foreign Economic Relation & Trade Commission, company name changed to Shanghai International Exhibition Co. Ltd., (SIEC).
In February 2004, SIEC came to be jointly invested by Shanghai World Expo (Group) Co., Ltd and CCPIT Shanghai Sub-Council upon the establishment of Shanghai World Expo (Group) Co., Ltd.
In June 2004, Auto Shanghai came to be the approved events of UFI as the first UFI approved auto show in China.
In 2005, the five of its shows, Auto Shanghai, Shanghaitex, China Cycle, Fashion Shanghai and China Elecomm are among the first eight exhibitions awarded “High Quality Trade Show” by the Evaluation Committee of Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Industries.
In May 2008, approved by Shanghai Municipal Government, SIEC returns to CCPIT Shanghai Sub-Council
